Meredith was born in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, and has lived in Chicago, New York, and Detroit. Currently, she is an MFA student at Eastern Michigan University, She holds a BA from Alma College in Political Science. Before discovering her passion for fiber arts, Meredith worked in high-end retail and was involved in Improv Comedy in Chicago and Detroit. Meredith has studied Jacquard weaving and has completed workshops at the Jacquard Center in North Carolina and the Arte della Seta Lisio Foundation in Florence, Italy. Meredith's current work explores her complex relationship with Detroit. There is the tug and pull of her family’s nearly 200-year history in the city and her mixed feelings about being back in Michigan and a homeowner in Detroit a city that is fascinating and multi-layered as the city and its residents to find the way forward despite the challenges. Utilizing found materials with needlework on them, she is creating compositions by digitally printing imagery on the fabric she sometimes dyes and continuing the stitching conversation with further embellishments.
